| Dear Learning Community,
Welcome to another school year! I am very excited about all the student learning that will take place this year at school and home. Our 3rd CSAP scores went up in all three test areas last year! Reading improved to 62% of students were proficient or advanced, math improved to 64% of students were proficient or advanced, and writing improved to 26% of students were proficient or advanced. Way to go students, parents and teachers! The numbers tell us the school is on the right track and we need to keep going to be better every year. This year we are still trying to reach the at home reading goal of one million minutes. Every night students need to read 20 minutes or more and record the time on the reading log. Over the year we will let you know how we are doing as a school. One of the questions parents keep asking us is “How is my child doing?” We did our homework over the summer and a team of teachers came up with the H.E.R.O. (Having Everything Ready & Organized) student data notebook. The 3 ring notebook will contain the students learning goals, lots of data from all the testing, the students will graph and chart their own progress, work samples, reading logs, and lots of other stuff that would help us all know how each student is doing. At our September 16th, Back to School Night, teachers will show parents how this H.E.R.O. notebook will work. We hope to see everyone there! Always Learning, Brian Berg Principal |
